The finely painted scene features soft pink peaches, green foliage, gnarled branches, and remarkably detailed fur and facial features, all set against a brilliant yellow ground. The compact globular form rises to a long slender neck and is finished with a four-character iron-red mark on the underside. An especially decorative example of traditional Chinese auspicious imagery, with peaches and the monkey motif associated with wishes for longevity and good fortune. See less
