Lovely vintage or antique hand-crafted Mamluk brass bowl. This bowl shows the rich tradition of Islamic metalwork that flourished in regions such as Syria, Egypt and Persia. It has intricate hand-engraved patterns on brass by skilled artisans making it beautiful as well as functional - these bowls were often used for ceremonial purposes. There are no apparent seams and the rolled top is uneven as is the bottom, showing that it is in fact hand made. The inside shows evidence of a well-used piece - otherwise, it is in very good condition and does not appear to leak.
Very nice, collectible piece or to give as a gift to someone special.
