An English Victorian equestrian plaque depicting a mounted hunter in the foreground and riders crossing a fence in the distance. The principal horse stands calmly in profile, its head slightly lowered, while the rider holds the reins in an upright seat. This composed central pair contrasts with the movement of the smaller jumping figures behind them.

The scene is cast in relief within a richly ornamented border. The horse’s neck, shoulders, tack, and legs stand forward from the textured ground, while the distant riders and fence are rendered at a shallower depth. Around the central oval, scrolling foliage and small figural motifs alternate with four pierced lattice roundels. The irregular outer edge follows the movement of the ornament, giving the plaque a sculptural silhouette.

The subject reflects the Victorian interest in riding and the English hunt field. It presents the horse as a steady, well-mannered mount, with the background jump supplying the sporting context. The casting’s raised surfaces have a warm golden tone, with darker color remaining in the recesses.

A hanging loop on the reverse permits wall display. The plaque may also be placed flat on a table or displayed on a plate stand.
