Pair of Yaacov Heller “Adam and Eve” sterling silver and gold-wash candlesticks, signed and dated 1993. These candleholders represent a smaller and somewhat different version of Heller’s documented Adam and Eve design.

Each sculptural candlestick takes the form of the Tree of Knowledge, with a deeply textured trunk rising from spreading, root-like feet to a flared, star-shaped candle cup. Adam stands beside one tree while Eve appears beside the other, establishing the pieces as a complementary pair. Selective gold-wash accents highlight their hair and fig leaves, creating a subtle contrast with the polished and naturally darkened silver surfaces.

Heller’s composition combines biblical narrative with practical function. The tree serves simultaneously as the central symbol of the Genesis story and as the structural stem supporting the candle. The elongated trunks and compact figures give the pair a distinctly sculptural presence despite their relatively small scale.

The candlesticks were produced through an electroforming process associated with Heller’s silverwork. A substantial outer layer of .925 sterling silver was formed over a wax or composition core; consequently, the pieces are genuine sterling silver electroforms but are not solid sterling throughout and should not be assessed by total weight.

Yaacov Heller, born in 1941, is an Israeli-American sculptor, jeweler, and silversmith recognized for works interpreting biblical history and Jewish identity. His sculptures have been commissioned and presented internationally as diplomatic and ceremonial gifts.

Each candlestick is signed Yaacov Heller, dated 1993 and marked 925. Light surface marks, tarnish, and minor wear are consistent with age.
