The top is made from a thick slab of wood that deliberately retains the material's natural irregularities. The free edge, knots, small cavities, and variations in the grain give the piece a unique character and make the wood itself the primary expressive resource of the design.

In contrast to this organic surface, the base is constructed from polished metal tubes arranged in a complex geometric composition. The inclined supports, intersecting elements, and sections of an almost architectural nature create a visually light structure with a strong sculptural presence.

The combination of natural wood and industrial-looking metal reflects the research developed during the 1970s and 1980s on sculptural furniture, where traditional materials and contemporary processes began to coexist within a single piece.
