The recumbent pig is wonderfully modeled with a broad rounded body, folded legs, curled tail and an especially expressive face. Fine hand-worked incised lines cover much of the surface, creating the suggestion of coarse hair and giving the bronze considerable visual depth.

Its generous scale and substantial bronze construction distinguish it from smaller decorative animal figures. The long, low profile works beautifully on a console, library table, kitchen island, large coffee table or deep bookshelf.

There is something particularly appealing about the contrast between the weight and permanence of bronze and the pig's completely relaxed pose. Equally at home in a traditional, farmhouse or collected interior, it brings personality and a touch of humor without feeling whimsical or overly rustic.

JUNE'S THOUGHTS
I have always liked decorative objects that keep a beautiful room from becoming too serious, and this fellow does exactly that. He is wonderfully substantial in bronze, but his sleepy expression and sprawling pose give him enormous personality. I would put him somewhere unexpected—on a library table, kitchen island or among more formal antiques—where he becomes the piece people notice and remember.
