RARE GEORGIA FOLK ART – SARA E. FINNEY HAND-CARVED WOODEN APPLES
This is a really special find!
Offered is a group of 7 life-size hand-carved wooden apples by Georgia folk artist Sara E. Finney of Milledgeville, Georgia, beautifully displayed in a wooden bowl.
Each apple was carved from basswood and hand painted in natural colors, just as identified on the original artist’s tag.
What makes this collection especially interesting is the original Sara E. Finney identification tag, which accompanies the apples.
Sara Finney was a well-known Georgia woodcarver who became particularly known for her remarkably realistic wooden apples. Her work was exhibited publicly, and historical accounts note that her fruit carvings were so realistic they could be mistaken for actual fruit.
