Grace Hartigan (1922-2008) was a prominent second-generation American Abstract Expressionist. A hallmark of Abstract Expressionism, the use of bold blocks of color—here, specifically vibrant orange and purple—juxtaposed with energetic black gestural forms and circular motifs.
For sale is a two-sided brochure with an intentional fold. The brochure would have been used by the gallery to market an art show of Hartigan pieces. This is a rare marketing piece, usually thrown away after the event.

Jackson helped launch the careers of Abstract Expressionists, Pop, and Op art movements and introduced international artists to the American market. Jackson was also known for coining the term "Op Art" following an exhibition in 1964.
