A handsome 19th century French jewelry box crafted in richly figured burl wood with contrasting wood banding and decorative marquetry. The lid is centered with an elegant inlaid cartouche surrounded by scrolling ornament and small floral details, adding a refined decorative element to the beautifully figured wood.
The box retains its working key and opens to reveal a fitted fabric interior in a soft rose tone. Brass hinges and hardware complete the piece. The combination of burl wood, fine inlay and restrained ornament gives the box an elegant Napoleon III period character.
