This vintage canister features a striking octagonal glass body in a vibrant emerald green, its eight faceted sides catching and refracting light beautifully as they taper subtly from a wider base to a slightly narrower shoulder. The glass displays a lovely tonal gradient, deepening to a richer green near the base while lightening toward a soft chartreuse-yellow through the midsection, a natural variation characteristic of period glass manufacturing. The star-cut pattern pressed into the underside of the base is faintly visible through the glass, adding subtle decorative detail to the vessel's foot. Topping the jar is a substantial metal lid with a darkened, aged patina, its surface showing mottled grey-brown oxidation that lends genuine vintage character. A raised decorative band encircles the lid just below a rounded knob finial, providing both visual interest and a practical grip for lifting. The combination of saturated colored glass and weathered metal hardware gives this canister real presence, evoking the apothecary and general store jars popular in the early twentieth century.
Use this canister to store bath salts, dried herbs, or small kitchen or vanity items, or display it empty as a decorative accent on a shelf or counter. Its faceted glass and vintage metal lid suit Mid-Century Modern, Farmhouse, Coastal, Eclectic, and Traditional interiors. The canister measures 4 inches wide, 4 inches deep, and 6 inches high. Hand wash the glass with mild soap and a soft cloth; wipe the metal lid with a dry cloth and avoid polishing away the natural patina, which is integral to its vintage character. The canister is in very good vintage condition, with the green glass body intact and free of visible chips or cracks, exhibiting consistent color and clarity, and the metal lid showing minor patina and light surface wear appropriate for age; it is structurally sound and visually appealing.
