This beautiful antique features the highly collectible "Cassino" pattern, rendered in crisp blue and white transferware. The domed lid displays a detailed classical landscape scene complete with architectural ruins and figures, framed by an intricate geometric border that carries down across the base. The octagonal form is supported by a robust pedestal foot and topped with an ornate, molded ceramic finial handle.
The underside bears the authentic 1840s–1860s printed blue underglaze backstamp: an elegant ribbon and classical urn cartouche reading "Ironstone • Cassino • W. Adams & Sons".
A striking, timeless statement piece perfectly suited for a grand blue-and-white holiday tablescape or displayed prominently in an antique hutch or china cabinet. I love the transfer ware scenes and the beautiful geometric border that resembles basket weaves. See less
