Sculpted by renowned artist Douglas V. Tootle for the historic Davenport Pottery Company based in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, this piece was officially issued in 1985 as the third installment in the coveted Toby Plate Collection.
The plate features a charming, hand-painted high-relief depiction of an old sea captain relaxing in his rocking chair while enjoying a pipe. He is accompanied by his favorite companions: a sweet orange tabby cat sleeping peacefully on his lap and a vibrant green parrot perched on his shoulder. Complete with textured wood-grain backing and porthole details, this vibrant character plate offers fantastic texture and dimensional depth.
Perfect for coastal retreats, nautical gallery walls, or collectors of English Toby ceramics and Staffordshire pottery.
