There are different woods on the sides and the drawer and interior woods. The top and face is mahogany. I don't have the key, but the keyholes look old ,one maybe bone or Ivory in the surround.. but I'm not sure. The drawers are marked with numbers and the sides and bottom is a much lighter wood, many imperfections are noted in the photos but to me they give it age and charm! See less

The inside someone spilled ink years ago, and the inner lid and writing area show it's age with marks and scratches. The sides are made with secondary woods and where they were pushed together they are now slightly separated, and look more red. This is a used piece not mint at all ,but has a nice warm feel. less
