This design has the yellow cylindrical body, white insulated liner, wide transparent Lucite handle, screw-mounted side hardware, clear lid, and characteristic flat pedestal-style Lucite lid handle. This example is unmarked, so it is attributed to Georges Briard.

The design is especially appealing from a collector standpoint because the lid differs from the much more commonly encountered vintage ice buckets with ball knobs or upright ring handles. The broad horizontal clear acrylic disc gives the piece a distinctly Space Age / Mod profile.

The color is a vivid saturated yellow that pairs beautifully with clear Lucite and makes this an outstanding display piece for a vintage bar cart, cocktail cabinet, home bar, kitchen, or Mid Century Modern interior.

Condition

Exceptional vintage condition.

There are no cracks, chips, splits, or scratches noted. The clear acrylic components are beautifully preserved, and the yellow exterior presents exceptionally well. The white interior is also very clean.

For a piece of functional barware approximately five decades old, the condition is remarkable.

Collector and design notes

Georges Briard was one of the best-known American designers associated with stylish postwar entertaining and barware. His designs became especially popular during the 1950s through 1970s and are recognizable for their bold materials, metallic accents, geometric forms, glassware, and sophisticated cocktail accessories.

This particular ice bucket reflects the strong Mod and Space Age influence of the 1970s, combining saturated color with transparent Lucite elements and minimalist geometric construction.

The clear swing handle is secured at the sides with screw-mounted hardware and clear acrylic spacers. The clear lid is topped with an unusual flat circular Lucite disc mounted on a short pedestal, one of the most distinctive features of this model.
