This demi lune commode decorated with floral marquetry and bronze ormolu has a black marble top.
The form of the commode transitions from Louis XV to Louis XVI. It has the cabriole legs, apron and trailing floral decoration of the earlier style as well as the symmetry and flat front of the latter.
The chest is covered in banded walnut veneer. The flowers and basket decorations are all inlaid with details drawn on by hand. The top is black composite marble with touches of white and red. Bronze dore hardware and ormolu complete the 18th Century look.
We believe the was bench made and hand decorated in France, early 20th C. There are no markings. The maker is unknown.
Measures 48" x 16-3/4" x 35 tall.
Good pre-owned condition. The piece is solid and stable. There are some chips and discoloration to the veneer between and below the drawers. No damage to the body or repairs.
