Here is a stunning antique, late 1800-early 1900s oak display cabinet on chest with wonderful architectural detailing and a beautiful two-piece design. Standing an impressive 81.5 inches tall, the cabinet combines a shallow glass-front display above a substantial three-drawer chest below.
The upper cabinet is crowned by a dramatic stepped pediment composed of layered wood moldings and contrasting raised panels. The central piece is burled wood. Shaped details at the upper corners of the glass doors continue the architectural quality, while the light-painted interior and adjustable shelving provide a beautiful backdrop for books, glassware, dishes or collected objects. At the bottom of the upper cabinet there are three small wooden drawers, fitted with especially beautiful ornate brass drop hardware. The wonderfully detailed backplates have an almost architectural quality of their own and add another decorative layer.
The lower chest is equally special, with three generously sized drawers framed by softly rounded corners, horizontal molded details and low raised feet. Each drawer features a contrasting raised wood panel, wonderfully sculptural wood keyhole surround and decorative brass hardware. Paneled sides and the warm, beautifully aged grain of the wood add even more dimension.
Designed in two separate sections, the piece also offers wonderful versatility. While particularly impressive used together, the shallow upper cabinet could be used independently as a display or storage cabinet—especially charming in a kitchen for dishes and glassware—while the lower three-drawer chest is handsome enough to stand entirely on its own.
A wonderfully distinctive piece of turn-of-the-century furniture with beautiful craftsmanship, abundant storage and exceptional architectural presence.

The wood shows scattered scratches, scuffs, finish variation and areas of lightening/discoloration, particularly across the lower front. There is a small chip to the molding at the upper right corner (16th photo) and a small chip to the center drawer front (6th photo). Some age-related cracking and separation is present along the paneled sides, as shown. A few of the drawer pull components are not perfectly matched. One raised foot at the back right has age-related damage (12th photo). The solid wood drawers are rustic but clean and function properly. The glass is intact and in good, clear condition. Please see photos for details. Skeleton keys not included and locking mechanisms not tested. less
