The decoration is created in the traditional cloisonné style, with fine brass wirework defining the floral, foliate, and butterfly motifs. Shades of pink, white, turquoise, green, and red stand out beautifully against the glossy black enamel, while the warm gilt-toned metal rim and foot provide an elegant contrast.

A particularly attractive detail is the intricate repeating wirework across the black ground, which gives the vase visual interest even between the larger floral motifs. The underside is finished in vivid turquoise enamel.
