A magnificent antique bookcase by Waring & Gillow, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship and richly decorative aesthetic associated with this renowned English furniture maker.

This imposing cabinet is crafted in beautifully figured Mahogany, with striking grain throughout and an abundance of finely carved ornament. The elaborate crest features scrolling foliage and a central carved cartouche, complemented by the deeply carved friezes and elegant architectural detailing.

The bookcase is arranged with three glazed sections, each with beautifully shaped and highly decorative pierced wooden glazing bars. The interior provides generous display and storage space, with multiple adjustable shelves. The central doors are particularly elegant, finished with brass escutcheons and an ornamental tassel detail.

The whole piece is raised on gracefully cabriole legs terminating in carved feet, giving the substantial cabinet an unexpectedly elegant silhouette.

Partial tag to rear marked Gillow ltd which was only found on labels after Gillows and warring merged. See less
