Introduce a magnificent touch of 19th-century American craftsmanship to your collection or tabletop with this exceptional pair of Mt. Washington Burmese art glass salt and pepper shakers. Produced in New Bedford, Massachusetts, circa 1885, these shakers exemplify the height of the Victorian Art Glass movement.
Designed by Frederick Shirley, the columnar shakers feature an elegant vertical ribbed pillar motif. The glass displays the textbook, exquisite color gradation distinctive to Burmese glass—blending from a delicate salmon-pink at the crown down to a warm yellow base. True to its historic formula containing uranium oxide, the glass reacts with a spectacular, vibrant glow under UV light.
Finished with a highly desirable, acid-etched matte "plush" texture, this pair retains its original, beautifully patinated period metal caps.

**Condition Report:**
In pristine, investment-grade antique condition. The glass is completely free of chips, cracks, thermal fractures, or restorations. The original metal tops show age-appropriate tarnish and patina, left unpolished to preserve historical integrity. Unmarked, which is definitive and historically accurate for this production.
The delicate glass rims and threads beneath the caps are exceptionally well-preserved, showing zero signs of the typical chipping or friction grinding common to Victorian utility ware. One shaker retains its original metal collar ring attached to the glass threads, and both caps thread on smoothly.
