A wonderfully graphic handblown studio art glass bowl signed “Weir” on the underside. The broad, shallow bowl is formed with a tightly controlled spiral of raspberry pink and white glass, finished with a contrasting amber-orange applied rim.
The bowl rises on a clear cylindrical pedestal above a broad circular foot, giving the piece an architectural profile and allowing the swirling pattern to appear almost suspended above the surface. Subtle variations and occasional bubbles are consistent with its handmade construction.
The engraved signature appears to read “Weir.” A second bowl with remarkably similar construction and decoration—including the distinctive cylindrical pedestal and disc foot—has been documented with the same Weir signature, supporting the reading of the mark, although the specific glass artist or studio has not yet been identified.
An unusual piece of signed late 20th-century studio glass with strong color, movement, and sculptural presence.
