The rounded vessel has a compact, sculptural form with a short neck and richly glazed surface. Its decoration is arranged in panels representing the Four Seasons, a traditional East Asian decorative theme expressed through changing flowers and foliage.

The vase is associated with the ceramic tradition of Biên Hòa, Vietnam, an important center of Vietnamese ceramic production known for distinctive glazed stoneware and decorative wares combining Vietnamese craftsmanship with broader East Asian artistic influences.

Bien Hoa ceramics were produced throughout the 20th century in a wide variety of forms and glaze treatments. This example is conservatively dated to the later 20th century, pending further examination of its base and any identifying marks.

Its approximately 7-inch rounded form makes it particularly appealing as a decorative object while allowing the four individual panels to be viewed as the vase is turned.
