1990s Signed Michele Onesto Murano Sommerso Ruffled Art Glass Bowl
A striking signed Murano art glass bowl by master glassmaker Michele Onesto, sculpted into an exuberant organic form of deeply undulating waves.
Hand-blown in richly saturated shades of ruby pink and amethyst purple encased in clear glass, the substantial bowl changes dramatically as it is viewed from different angles. Its fluid ruffled rim and sculptural form make it equally successful as a centerpiece or as a collectible work of Murano glass.
Michele Onesto comes from a distinguished Murano glassmaking family and is the son of master glassmaker Luigi Onesto, founder of Vetreria Artistica Oball. Michele became particularly accomplished in the traditional sommerso technique, which he learned from Murano master Giancarlo Signoretto.
Signed “Michele Onesto, Murano” to the base.
Murano, Italy, circa 1990s.
Approximately 9"W × 9"D × 4"H.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No chips or cracks. Please see photographs for details of the individually hand-worked glass.
