The rectangular case is crafted from solid Brazilian hardwood and richly figured Brazilian rosewood veneer. Four substantial corner uprights form its distinctive structural frame, punctuated by exposed metal fasteners that lend the piece a precise, almost campaign-furniture character. Two independently hinged lids open by means of sculptural circular pulls, revealing a generously proportioned, divided interior. Recessed handles at either end allow the trunk to be moved with ease.
The rosewood displays remarkable depth and movement, ranging from warm reddish-brown to darker chocolate tones. Decades of natural aging have enriched the grain and softened the finish, creating a nuanced patina that cannot be replicated in newly produced furniture. Gentle variations in color, subtle surface marks and minor wear concentrated around the lower corners remain as an honest record of the trunk’s history while preserving its strong overall presentation.
