A tall French alabaster vase elevated within a gilt metal stand, likely dating to the early 20th century.
Carved from alabaster, the vessel carries the soft translucency characteristic of the stone, with veining in warm ivory, blush, honey, and smoke drifting across the surface. Its silhouette is restrained and classical, tapering gently at the neck before widening into a rounded body.
The gilt metal stand gives the piece an unusual sense of height and presence at over 30 inches tall. Hammered and worked by hand, the frame wraps the vase in delicate bands and upright supports, lifting the alabaster from the surface so it feels almost suspended within the structure.
More sculptural than utilitarian, the piece functions as an object of material and atmosphere—well suited to a pedestal, console, or corner where the scale and translucency of the alabaster can fully register.
Condition: In great vintage condition. The gilt metal has natural patina throughout, with light surface wear to the alabaster appropriate for age.
