Elaborate antique porcelain and gilt-metal centerpiece featuring three finely modeled putti surrounding a classical urn beneath an elevated circular display tray.
The white porcelain composition is richly sculpted with three cherubic figures, floral details and a classical urn. Above, an approximately 11-inch circular metal tray is surrounded by exceptionally ornate gilt-metal garlands, roses, foliage and pendant ornamentation. The porcelain grouping rests upon an equally decorative gilt-metal architectural base.
The contrast between the crisp white porcelain and beautifully aged gilt metal gives the piece wonderful Old World character and presence.
The metal mounting is stamped “EFBES 5620.” The underside of the porcelain also bears an incised number and a small hand-painted blue mark. Maker and exact origin have not been confirmed.
