Adams of Brooklyn, New York for "Non-Conducting Fabrics," patented December 15, 1885. The central patent certificate retains its blue ribbon and embossed orange seal and is flanked by two companion documents: the complete printed United States Patent Office specification and a technical illustration detailing the patented layered fabric construction. Each document is individually presented within gilt-trimmed openings against a blue mat, with a small brass identification plaque mounted below the central certificate. The substantial molded wood frame features a beaded inner border, creating a formal presentation for this unusual piece of 19th-century American industrial and technological history.
