This planter has a heavy rolled rim, tapered cylindrical form, and raised woven pattern that creates wonderful depth as the glaze settles into the recessed areas.

The glaze ranges from warm chestnut and russet brown to nearly black, with natural variations and areas of mottling that emphasize the hand-finished character of the pottery. The interior is primarily unglazed, revealing the warm reddish-buff clay body, with glaze extending over the rim and upper interior. A drainage hole is present in the base.

At 18" diameter × 15"H, this is a particularly useful decorator scale—large enough for a substantial fern, palm, topiary or indoor tree, and equally handsome left empty as a sculptural garden or conservatory accent.
