An impressive large and substantial art glass bowl designed by Josef Hospodka (1923–1989) for the Chřibská glassworks, Czechoslovakia, during the second half of the 20th century.
The piece is distinguished by its dramatic elongated organic form, extending to an impressive 51 cm in length. The substantial hand-shaped glass combines clear glass with flowing pink and purple tones, creating rich colour transitions and pronounced optical effects throughout the sculptural form.
Its wide, sweeping silhouette and considerable proportions give the bowl a particularly strong decorative presence. The combination of transparent, pink and purple glass emphasizes the fluid character of the design and the substantial mass of the glass.
A striking example of Czechoslovak art glass designed by Josef Hospodka for Chřibská, suitable as a large centerpiece or as part of a collection of Czech art glass.
