A refined Italian bar cabinet designed by Pier Luigi Colli, distinguished by its highly architectural construction and elaborate decorative craftsmanship.
The cabinet presents a carefully balanced composition of contrasting surfaces. The central pair of doors is decorated with carved and inlaid motifs inspired by music, theatre and games, including playing cards, dice, a theatrical mask and musical instruments. These detailed panels are framed by the cabinet's distinctive ribbed side doors, whose deep horizontal profiling gives the piece a strong sculptural character.
When opened, the cabinet reveals a well-organized bar interior arranged on two levels, complete with glass shelves and drop-down doors that provide generous serving surfaces. The rich wood finish continues throughout the interior, reflecting the same attention to detail found on the exterior.
The cabinet rests on a substantial architectural base with textured outer supports and geometric cross-bracing. Every element contributes to the overall design, from the decorative front panels to the deeply worked side sections and the carefully constructed base.
A sophisticated example of Italian decorative furniture design, this bar cabinet combines functional purpose with an unusually rich and sculptural presence. The complexity of its construction and the variety of its handcrafted details make it a particularly distinctive piece within Pier Luigi Colli's production, suitable for collectors and interiors seeking an important statement piece of Italian design.
