Antique Christmas ornaments, especially figurative ones, are sought-after antiques that add a touch of vintage elegance to the tree. The subject—a greyhound—is depicted with grace and dynamism, characteristic of the aesthetic canon of the period. The greyhound, a dog of great elegance, holds a small basket in its mouth—a charming detail that suggests its role as a Christmas “gift-bearer.” The mirror-like silver finish beautifully reflects the tree’s lights, while the elongated, flowing shapes evoke German Art Nouveau design. Probably produced in Lauscha or Thuringia—historic centers of glass ornament production—this ornament is a must-have for collectors of vintage Christmas ornaments.
