The chair features an elegant sculptural bentwood construction with curved arms, a rounded wooden seat and a substantial central pedestal supported by four sweeping curved legs. The revolving mechanism adds functionality while preserving the highly decorative character of the design. Produced in 1993, this armchair belongs to the later period of ton's long-established bentwood furniture tradition. The factory in bystřice pod hostýnem was founded by michael thonet in 1861 and ton continued the historic bentwood manufacturing tradition under the ton name from 1953 onward. The original ton a.s. Manufacturer's label remains attached underneath the seat. The design can be described as thonet revival / traditional bentwood / late 20th-century historicist, combining traditional bentwood techniques and forms with a more decorative 1990s interpretation.
