This rare and very fine Minton style majolica game pie tureen is from Lisbon, Portugal and is believed to have been manufactured somewhere in the 1890s-1910s.
Although many late 20th century copies of the famous Minton game pie dishes of the 1880s pieces have been manufactured in England and in China, the present set was manufactured by Fábrica de Faianças das Caldas da Rainha of Lisbon, Portugal. It is not only finely detailed, I have not found any other one identically marked and thus is very rare.
The oval-shaped serving dish features a glossy multicolor ceramic finish with an all-over game related pattern. The lid features a hare, duck and game bird. The piece is now primarily a decorative piece, as should only be hand washed, and due to its age, not placed in an oven or microwave. Rather, it would be a valuable addition to any collection of pottery from the late Victorian era through the early 1900s
