A beautifully crafted mid‑century silverplate triple wine bottle caddy featuring pierced gallery sides, decorative feet, and a tall finial handle for easy service. The underside bears a hand‑carved “CJA 230” mark, consistent with small‑batch studio silverplate rather than mass production. Some collectors have associated similar marks with Charles J. Allen, though the attribution remains unconfirmed; we present it as a probable maker rather than a definitive one.
Charles J. Allen was an American mid‑century “boutique” silversmith known for small‑batch work that often featured hand‑carved or hand‑scribed marks, irregular numbering systems, and utilitarian forms such as barware, trays, and serving accessories.
