Sprays of roses and acanthus leaves bloom across each crest, framed by inverted finials and Greek key corners like the pediment of a classical temple. Egg and dart molding and gadrooning trace the frames, set off by a gleaming row of brass nailheads, and acanthus leaves curl along the arm supports beneath padded manchettes. Fluted legs, turned like slender columns, lift each chair with quiet poise.
Beautifully waxed, the walnut glows with over a century of patina. Elegant and generous proportions invite lingering conversation, and the vintage cut velvet in rose and ivory, woven with classical urns and flowering bouquets, echoes the roses carved above.
