An elegant vintage cut lead crystal covered compote with deeply cut geometric, fan and starburst decoration. The substantial bowl is raised on three decorative scroll feet and finished with a fitted lid featuring a tall, faceted teardrop finial.
The piece weighs approximately two pounds with its lid. Its exceptional brilliance, beveled and polished rim, substantial weight and clear, sustained ring are all characteristic of lead crystal. Subtle watery horizontal striations and one tiny internal air bubble appear to be original characteristics of the glassmaking process.
A sophisticated decorative accent for a dining room, bar cart, vanity or traditional interior. It may also be used as a covered bonbon or wrapped-candy dish.
