The charm of this kind of embroidery is just unique particularly large piece like this one 95 H on 67 … Read more The charm of this kind of embroidery is just unique particularly large piece like this one 95 H on 67 W, impressive and splendid it present a very elaborated and sophisticated floral decor , with stylized flowers in a renaissance/ baroque style , note the use of silk for the flowers and the use of gold threads for certain parts of flowers and decor , this show a high quality piece for a high hand market . The embroidery seems to be from the 16 century while the back red silk is form the 17 hundreds , so it was transferred on a newer backing at the time , this process was often used for exceptional and expensive embroideries so they could be used again when the original backing was used . we believe the piece been Italian as we have seen many of this type of work coming from Italy .This pieces was use as a wall hanging but would be wonderful on a table or a bed , anyway can t go wrong with something so exceptional .Please check our large selection of embroideries , tapestries , and rare textiles we have listed in our Chairish shop at FRENCHTOUCH10 .
