A 19th-century French Provincial three-drawer commode in the Louis XV Rococo style, crafted from solid European oak. The chest features a bombé silhouette and a serpentine front facade.
The oak has been cleaned of old dark stains and finished with a traditional clear wax, preserving its pale honey-gold tone and protecting the wood grain with a low-luster sheen.
The frame features deep relief carvings, including a scrolling acanthus and shell apron, floral stiles, and molded cartouche paneling on the drawer fronts and sides. It retains its original asymmetrical cast-brass Rococo pulls and escutcheons, standing on cabriole legs with scroll feet.
Period construction is evident throughout, showcasing hand-dovetailed drawer joinery and a robust, fully paneled back assembly. The drawer interiors retain a decorative paper lining. Its shallow footprint makes it a versatile storage piece for both modern and traditional interiors.
