This trapezoid side table has a hand-set glass tile mosaic top in an abstract composition of red, orange, saffron, and … Read more This trapezoid side table has a hand-set glass tile mosaic top in an abstract composition of red, orange, saffron, and slate over a dark ground, very much in the manner of designs by Kagan, but likely produced by Mosaic House, c.1950's. It sits in a solid bronze frame on slender square legs joined by a crossed stretcher. The irregular shape lets it tuck into a corner or wrap around the end of a sectional, and the bronze has aged to a deep chocolate patina with verdigris at the feet, which suits the warm palette of the tiles. The underside is signed "Stewart" in period pencil, likely the name of the original client, which suggests a private commission.

Measures 28.75 inches wide by 23 inches tall, with a depth of 25.375 inches on one side tapering to 14.75 inches on the other. Very good vintage condition with all tiles intact and the natural variation in height you get from hand-set mosaic work. The bronze shows oxidation throughout, with verdigris at the feet.
