The gong measures 15 inches in diameter and carries a hammered, hand-worked surface, its warm brass softened by traces of gilding that remain on the face. The singing bowl was made for Buddhist monks and cast circa 1900 in bronze, measuring 6 inches wide, 6 inches deep, and 6 inches high, with a golden finish and a superbly aged patina. The black wood prayer beads have a 21-inch drop, and their dark tone sits handsomely against the warm glow of the metals.

Together they make a quiet, contemplative grouping for a meditation space or a home altar, and they will appeal to collectors of Buddhist objects and hand-worked metal, and to anyone drawn to the beauty of simple, honest craftsmanship.
Acquired at an estate auction on Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, from a collection that included several Buddhist objects.
All three pieces date to the early 20th century, and the gong and the bowl are lovingly used, with gently worn gilding, aged surfaces, and minor imperfections consistent with age. All three pieces are included in this listing.
