The third, in a cool grey banded marble, has a straight cylindrical form.

I chose them because old kitchen stone has a weight and texture nothing new can match. Grouped on an open shelf, a kitchen island or a library table, they bring quiet utility to a room, and they are just as useful for salt, herbs or keys as they are to look at.

Mortar with pestle approx. 5 x 5.25 in. (12.5 x 13.5 cm). Grey mortar approx. 5.25 x 6 in. (13 x 15 cm). Smaller mortar approx. 4 x 4.75 in. (10 x 12 cm). See less
