Vintage French Provincial desk or vanity with diamond-matched veneer and Louis XV-l–style carving.
This piece features a kneehole design with five drawers total, diamond-matched veneer drawer fronts framed in contrasting banding, ornate cast brass pulls, and a serpentine apron with a carved acanthus and shell drop at center. On either side of the kneehole are carved pilasters and gracefully carved cabriole legs with scroll feet. The warm fruitwood-toned finish shows lovely age-appropriate patina throughout.
With a versatile kneehole design, this piece works equally well as a writing desk or vanity, and pairs beautifully with other French Provincial or curated vintage pieces in a bedroom or home office.
