The Metz pattern combines a beautiful pale blue ground with delicate multicolor floral decoration, a decorative border and warm-toned rim. The softly colored botanical design has the collected character associated with classic English tableware.
Especially appealing is the form of these bowls. Each features an unusual 12-sided coupe shape with gently rounded sides, creating a silhouette that appears almost circular while revealing a subtle geometric structure on closer inspection.
The pale blue ground also displays natural variations in hue and intensity from bowl to bowl, adding individual character to the seven-piece set.
The group includes examples from two periods of Adams production: five bowls bear the older Adams Calyx Ware backstamp, while two bear the newer Adams Real English Ironstone Micratex backstamp.
