The compact rectangular form is framed by antiqued gilt and green decoration and fitted with ornate gilt-iron handles.

The centre of the tray is occupied by an oval figural medallion containing a finely printed colour image of a romantic couple in a pastoral setting. The artwork is protected beneath intact glass and bordered by decorative gilt ornament, producing the layered presentation characteristic of decorative vanity accessories of the period.

The frame combines green and gold-toned antiqued finishes with scrolling Rococo-derived ornament. Each side is fitted with an ornate gilt-iron handle, one of which carries the stamped mark “I.S. MFC CO PATENT APPLD.” This marking supports United States manufacture of the hardware, while the complete tray's final assembly location is not otherwise established.

The reverse retains its decorative patterned backing in exceptionally clean condition. The glass remains intact, the central image is bright and clear, and no moisture or water damage is reported.
