Elevate your desktop or library display with this remarkably ornate antique French Rococo cast brass double inkwell, dating to the late 19th century. This exceptional statement piece showcases the height of Belle Époque and Victorian desk luxury, featuring an intricately pierced, high-relief design.
The inkstand is Masterfully decorated with classical motifs, including winged cherubs/putti flanking the top gallery, detailed grotesque masqueron faces, central heraldic cresting, and heavy clusters of dimensional fruit and foliage. It sits securely on beautifully scrolled acanthus-leaf feet.
The stand features two integrated urn-shaped inkpots complete with their original hinged lids. The underside of the base is distinctly stamped with the French patent/registration mark "DEPOSE" within an oval cartouche alongside a circular floral foundry/maker's mark.
