The … Read more A striking mid-20th century Chinese six-sided bamboo birdcage, beautifully constructed with an architectural domed top and extensive hand-carved detailing. The hexagonal form is elevated on carved feet and surrounded by an ornate base featuring traditional Asian motifs, including a prominent carved dragon. Additional carved details appear throughout the cage, including the perch supports and small decorative faces flanking the lower section. Two blue and white porcelain seed cups add a wonderful contrast to the warm honey-brown bamboo. Complete with its original-style curved metal hanging hook, functional door, carved perch, and removable lower tray.

Dating to approximately the 1940s–1950s, this is an especially decorative example of the traditional Chinese songbird cage and displays beautifully from every angle.
