Handsome pair of antique white and gold faux leather, demi-lune shaped bookends. Heavy construction for stability with smooth leather tops and bodies and maroon felt bases to protect delicate surfaces. Embossed with raised, lattice type borders, gold rope edging, and a highly decorative intertwined design superimposed on a textured octagonal medallion on the front face.
Our research indicates that this geometric pattern is known as an "Endless Knot" representing longevity and the interconnectedness of all things in the Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, and Chinese Philosophy traditions. No makers marks.
