The exciting part is both … Read more These are the oldest pair of antique wood tennis rackets we’ve curated over the years. The exciting part is both can be authenticated by their makers marks. There is a 1930s Wright Ditson Columbia. Wright Dotson was at one time the premier American tennis racket manufacturer. The makers mark was used between 1930-1935. They sold out to Spaulding. The other racket is exceptional. It’s a 1905 AG Spaulding & Bros Oval. The partial patent mark indicates a 1905 date. The makers mark also denotes the early 1900s. This antique racket is in exceptional condition. It has the original twine strings. We have seen this racket before but the strings are alway missing or terribly torn and broken. To find these intact is fun. Both racket have the ribbed wood handles, used before leather was wrapped on rackets. These had only one owner and they took very good care of them. They display beautifully together.
