The composition includes apples, pears, citrus and other stylized fruits in rich tones of apple green, ochre, mustard yellow and deep burgundy. Each piece has been individually formed and glazed, creating subtle variations in colour, texture and finish that give the arrangement a particularly sculptural quality.
The substantial footed bowl is finished in a deep glossy green glaze with attractive natural crazing, while the fruit has a warm, painterly quality typical of mid-century Mediterranean decorative ceramics.
The underside carries a partially legible impressed/painted maker’s mark, shown in the photographs. I would avoid attributing it to a specific factory until the mark can be conclusively identified.
A striking statement piece for a dining table, kitchen island, console or sideboard. Its scale, colour and highly sculptural form make it particularly well suited to Mediterranean, Italian Modern, Hollywood Regency or eclectic interiors.
