This striking textile showcases a finely detailed stylized paisley (boteh) pattern throughout. 'Shawls' like these originated from Kashmir India and were referred to as either Paisley or Piano shawls. They were extremely popular during the Victorian era. This particular shawl is somewhat thick and definitely has a wool smell. It has NOT been attacked by moths that I can see and has been stored safely away for quite some time. However, since this is a fragile textile, you will see that when held up to the light, there are areas where the fabric has weakened. Please review the photos so that you can see for yourself. This DOES NOT affect the beauty of the piece which would look lovely draped over your favorite chair or at the foot of a bed. See less
