Guillain Siroux (1933–1988)
“Le Printemps” (Spring)
A wonderfully graphic original color print by French artist Guillain Siroux, based on a composition created for *Quat'Saisons*, Antoine Blondin's celebrated collection published by La Table Ronde in 1975.
Rather than offering a conventional image of spring, Siroux creates an exuberant and highly personal interpretation of the season. A vivid field of green dominates the center of the composition, alive with layers of marks and textures, while freely drawn figures, vegetation, and almost abstract forms unfold around it.
The combination of intense color and spontaneous line gives the work a particularly appealing 1970s character, somewhere between abstraction, figurative art, and literary illustration.
The composition belongs to the group of works created by Siroux around the four seasons for Antoine Blondin's Quat'Saisons.
Original color print on paper.
Hand-signed in pencil and numbered 30/120 upper right.
Provenance: from the artist's studio estate.
